Tools used for this project
In partnership with the Species Recovery team at the Toronto Zoo, I created two motion graphic videos designed as educational tools for elementary school students. The goal of these videos is to teach kids about some of the natural wonders found in Rouge National Urban Park. Each video highlights a different topic: one explores the park itself, while the other shines a light on the often-overlooked but important freshwater mussels, which play a key role in the ecosystem.
Because the target audience is young children, I focused on creating a fun and engaging visual style. I used craft-inspired graphics—like crumpled and torn paper textures—to give the videos a playful, handmade look. To keep the content clear and easy to understand, I made sure that all on-screen text was large, minimal, and easy to read, helping to maintain the attention of younger viewers and make the learning experience enjoyable.
This project made use of several Adobe Creative Suite programs—Photoshop and Illustrator for asset creation and management, After Effects for motion graphics, and Premiere Pro to bring everything together into a final video.
